More Thoughts on XP SP2

well it certainly is nice having an out of box firewall that works.
I still like the functionality of ZoneAlarm, and the ease of configuration.
Granted this is a HUGE step forward for MS in the security field.
Something that actually blocks programs from accessing the network, BY DEFAULT and I like the new pop up blocking, finally something good in IE's favor.
I will still use Mozilla thou for my browsing, I am very much addicted to the Tabbed Browsing and plug-ins that are out there for Mozilla and it's kin.

and low and behold they seem to have gotten a wifi manager that works.
the old one always lost connection to my APs whenever they say the ping from a second AP. Most frustrating let me tell you. I started using Boingo just to keep an active WiFi connection :|, course that was before I went with ABG APs and Proxim ABG cards in the laptops, the Proxim client is great. having all the profiles for wherever you happen to be or go is EXTREMELY nice, no reconfiguring when you get home after you have been at wrok, or out in public at a hotspot.

Well enough babbling for now

First Day thoughts

Well, the System Seems to be running balls out, just getting the main
apps I need loaded so far. I will say Tune-Up Utilities 2004 work
fairly well to tune your system easily. Office 03 is going to be a
bear thou, 5 bloody discs man, it's insane. Hopefully this thing
doesn't tank soon after I get it all loaded :/. Still have to get in
to the firewall and see how it will behave, I am thinking it is going
to be a lot of manual tweaking. unlike ZA which is fairly straight
forward and simple, asks simple questions and click simple answers.

First Thoughts

Well, the main machine is back up and running nicely so far, just installed Win XP SP2, and have my browser loaded back, even updated I cannot bring myself to use IE anymore than I have to, baka Micro$oft and not allowing to kill it, and also even thou it says you are unistalling messenger from the add/remove programs, don't believe a word they say, it is still there and will still launch, again baka Miro$oft.

At least they did get the firewall somewhat more up to snuff, will know more as I have more and more programs accessing the net and have to tailor it to fit me. Will hold off on installing my standard ZA first thing, HI HI

Well back to the software grind
